Call for Conference Interpreters

We are looking to build a collaborative team of interpreters who are committed to providing high-quality communication access throughout the conference. We welcome applications from interpreters with a variety of backgrounds, language skills, and conference experience.

We are recruiting interpreters for the following roles:

1. Audience Interpreters (ASL)

Provide audience interpreting in American Sign Language (ASL) from the audience during workshops, plenary sessions, and other conference events.

2. Between ASL and International Sign (IS) Interpreters

Provide interpreting between American Sign Language (ASL) and International Sign (IS) for conference participants, presenters, and audience members as needed.

Applicants are welcome to apply for one or more of these interpreting roles based on their qualifications and experience.

We also believe that interpreters learn from one another, and we strive to create an environment where everyone contributes to the success of the team and the conference experience.

Preferred Qualifications

We welcome applications from interpreters with a wide range of professional experiences. The following qualifications are preferred:

·       Experience interpreting in conference, workshop, educational, or large-group settings.

·       Strong receptive and expressive ASL skills.

·       Experience providing audience interpreting in conference settings.

·       Experience interpreting between ASL and International Sign (IS) is strongly encouraged for applicants interested in that role.

·       Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional interpreting team.

·       Knowledge of Deaf culture and a commitment to providing high-quality, culturally responsive interpreting services.

·       Professionalism, flexibility, dependability, and the ability to adapt to a variety of presenters, communication styles, and conference environments.
