Hello!
My name is Patty Lessard and I am the new Treasurer for CIT. I want to thank the CIT Board for trusting me to take on this new position. They have been very kind and patient as I get up to speed; learning my new duties and responsibilities. I also want to thank Richard Laurion, the out-going Treasurer who served CIT for two terms, four years, as its Treasurer. I am grateful to Richard for taking the time to sit with me and go through all the various duties, timelines and responsibilities that I would have as Treasurer.
This is my first quarterly report to you the members regarding CIT’s financial “health”. I am happy to report that as of March 31, 2015, CIT has assets totaling $178,814.10. The Board has committed to monitor these assets carefully to ensure that the dollars are spent wisely on worthwhile projects or sponsorships. The Board also believes strongly in fostering outreach and developing partnerships with other interpreting programs, organizations and conferences locally, nationally and internationally. To that end, the CIT Board agreed to sponsor three events this past quarter:
1. Street Leverage in April. CIT recognizes and supports the goals of SL and wants to maintain its relationship with this entity.
2. CDI Training in June. It will be exciting to see more DIs trained and joining us in this profession. The participants at the training will also have the opportunity to take the CDI exam while they are there. Who knows? Maybe our pool of CDIs will expand greatly after that training!
*if you are attending either of these two events, be sure to look for the CIT logo as a proud sponsor
3. WASLI this summer. The Board agreed to sponsor your President, Leslie Greer, to attend this conference. While there, she will report back to the membership via vlogs, about what she has seen happening at the conference, about the various workshops and other discussions about global issues worth noting. Perhaps we will be able to host similar discussions here as well.
This concludes my quarterly report. Thank you again for your trust in me as I go forward in this new role.
Respectfully submitted,
Patricia Lessard
Treasurer
