English Translation
Hello! So good to see you! As you know, CIT has long since wanted to ensure diversity and member involvement, but seeking these opportunities has been a challenge. This past year, the CIT Board agreed to sponsor a few different conferences. One such conference was for the National Black Deaf Advocates (NBDA); I attended the conference with an exhibit booth as a representative of CIT. The conference took place in Louisville, Kentucky, over a three day period in July. I had the opportunity to meet so many people at the booth! Around twenty people (really well over twenty people came up to see me there), but twenty people signed up wanting more information about our field. I think it is very important for all of us to work together to recruit more diverse people to teach interpreting, mentor, give workshops, and so on. If we lack diversity, our students miss out on exposure to a rich experience! It was a good experience for me. I have also been working with the IJIE editors to prepare our next edition for publication! This will be ready to send out in November. While I at the NBDA conference, I regretfully was unable to attend the banquet. However, during the banquet, NBDA recognized and thanked CIT for attending and sponsoring their workshops and conference. Let me show you what we received…it was really nice and a good experience for us!
