Hello! I can’t believe it’s spring already! I’m sure a few of you are already on spring break. I would like to make a few comments about the CIT Conference which is from October 29th to November 1st. We will be arriving Tuesday evening and leaving on Sunday morning.
I have something exciting to share with you! Portland is near the Oregon School for the Deaf, which is in Salem. CIT will be providing a bus to OSD. But why is OSD special?
In October2010, the TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” with host Ty Pennington and his crew, traveled to the OSD to remodel the dormitories as well as a haunted house! The haunted house serves as an annual fundraiser to help with their needs. It has been wildly popular! We will be providing a bus to go to OSD as they have invited us to come for priority entry to have a look around. Awesome! The reason for this message is because if you remember CIT’s new mission statement says we will support outreach with the Deaf community. That is what we are doing with OSD, going to show our support!
If you want to be involved in the conference committee, contact the conference chair, Carole Lazorisak.
I also wanted to inform you that Jimmy Beldon has already established a Bylaw Committee which is in the process of revisions. Jimmy Beldon will be commenting on this. Carole Lazorisak will be announcing the Plenary speakers, Keynote and Endnote speakers.
Mahalo, and I hope to see you there October 29th to November 1st. We will be arriving Tuesday evening and leaving on.
Aloha!
