Primary Purpose
Teach American Sign Language classes and related courses for majors and for non-majors.
Represent the Sign Language Studies and Sign Language Interpreting programs on the Pocatello campus.
Key Responsibilities
Teach classes in American Sign Language and related courses for Sign Language Studies and Sign Language Interpreting programs
Advise undergraduate students.
Represent the Sign Language Studies and Sign Language Interpreting programs on the Pocatello campus. Participate in Department and Program faculty meetings and committee work.
Professional service and scholarly activity as appropriate to rank and expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language or related field;
American Sign Language Proficiency Interview score of 4.0 or better;
Current member of ASL Teachers Association or similar national organization with potential to become ASLTA Certified;
Potential for excellence in teaching,
Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in American Sign Language or related field;
Demonstrated involvement in the Deaf community;
2 years or more experience teaching at college or university level (online or on-campus);
Ability to work independently;
Strong organizational skills;
Demonstrated success in interdisciplinary collaborative situations;
Experience or interest in curriculum development and accreditation process.
