Interpreter Training Program Faculty – 10 month

ASL Announcement


The ASL and Interpreter Preparation programs, which have been training interpreters for more than 30 years, are seeking a candidate to teach courses in Interpreter Preparation and American Sign Language.  The program serves a diverse population of students, which include both deaf and hearing students.


Master’s degree in a discipline related to Interpreter Education, Linguistics, or a related field; RID certification required; CDI certification preferred; with a minimum of two years of professional interpreting experience; documented evidence of effective teaching in the interpreting field; extensive knowledge of Deaf culture and the Deaf community with the ability to interact effectively with both Deaf and hearing people; evidence of meaningful contributions to the college community and professional organizations. Academic transcripts must be submitted with application.

The faculty member will also supervise student interns at on- and off-campus sites and provide advising and academic counseling to program majors.  Faculty teach 15 credits per semester, hold five office hours per week, serve the college through committee and other service, and continue to enhance their skills and knowledge through professional development.
