The College of Education has an opening for a full-time ASL-English Interpreter (50%) an Interpreting Lecturer (50%) to interpret for faculty, teach interpreting courses, and support department and unit initiatives and programs. Interpreting in this role will include translating and/or interpret for faculty as needed, during interactions with administration, faculty, staff, students, members of the public, research participants and collaborators. Examples of settings where interpreting may occur: Research meetings/related activities; outdoors in remote, natural environments; department/program activities, one-on-one with faculty or students; classroom or related activities; sponsored events, etc. Interpreting in this role requires working in fast-paced, highly technical, academic settings where autonomous decision-making and the highest ethical standards are expected. Lecturing in this role will include teaching ASL-English interpreting courses. 

The successful candidate functioning in the interpreting role will provide interpreting services onsite in Tucson, and at times throughout the southwest (50%); and when functioning in the lecturer role: teach 1-2 ASL-English interpreting courses each semester and support program activities onsite in Tucson (40%), and perform service responsibilities (10%). 

We seek an interpreter highly competent in ASL and spoken English, proficient in performing technical and academic interpretations (including platform/conference presentations), teaching, field work; demonstrates strict adherence to the Code of Professional Conduct, knowledgeable of cultural diversity, cultural terminology, and best practices, and committed to ongoing development. 

We seek a lecturer with knowledge of best practices teaching ASL-English interpreters (including Deaf interpreters), ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, able to guide students in the learning process toward achievement of interpreting proficiency, experience with technology, and able to teach in a variety of formats (including remotely).
