The Department of Classical and Modern Languages is seeking a dedicated professional to teach American Sign Language in our American Sign Language Interpreting Studies (ASLIS) program for the 2016-17 academic year. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewals. Native or near-native proficiency in ASL, and an MA or Ph.D. in American Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Education, or other appropriate field is required. Applicants must also have ASLTA or RID certification.
Candidates should be prepared to teach ASL courses (all levels), Deaf Culture, Deaf History, Structure of ASL, and possibly other courses. Department service will include, among other assignments, the evaluation of student outcomes and the assessment of language competency levels.
