Job Description:
Framingham State University invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position in the American Sign Language/English Bachelor’s Degree Completion program to begin September 2014. The successful candidate will oversee the practicum component of the curriculum. Students in the program take two semesters (fall and spring) of interpreting practicum consisting of 120 hours in the field per semester, 2 hours of seminar per week, and a capstone research project. The lecturer will oversee the students’ practicum experience, communicate with practicum supervisors on student progress, lead practicum seminar sessions, and guide/supervise student research projects.
Minimum Requirements:
- MA/MS in a discipline related to the field of Interpreting instruction or a relevant field, for example, Sign language Interpretation/Translation, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Cross-Cultural Communication, Communication, Curriculum and Instruction, Language Instruction, and Adult Education.
- RID or NAD certification.
- Experience as a practicum supervisor or interpreter mentor.
