Assistant Professor for ASL and interpreter Education

The College of Education at Eastern Kentucky University is accepting applications for a full time, 9-month Assistant Professor for its Department of ASL and Interpreter Education (ASLIE). The ASLIE department is a CCIE accredited program with 12 full-time faculty, 3 full-time lab staff, and 7 support staff members. The department is in the final approval process for a Master’s level ASL Studies program, which will offer two concentrations. Students will concentrate in either Interpretation or in Teaching ASL. Position start date is August 2016. Responsibilities include teaching online graduate courses in the Teaching ASL concentration and classes may be taught on-line, Richmond campus, or at one of the EKU extended campuses. Some course topics include Curriculum Design, Second Language Acquisition, Assessment, and Teaching Methods. The position also requires teaching undergraduate ASL, Deaf Studies and/or interpreting courses. Tenure-track faculty members are also expected to perform service and engage in scholarly activity and publication.
