The Deaf Studies program at the University of Arizona has two openings for a part-time Professor of Practice academic appointment to teach ASL-English interpreting. Join a collaborative team in a dynamic program committed to supporting the needs of students preparing for careers as interpreters in K12 and other settings.
The successful candidates will teach two courses each semester and/or facilitate field experiences onsite in Tucson, Arizona and perform service; provide feedback and advise students; participate in outreach, program initiatives, screening/selection of students; engage with department, college, and university communities; demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and service. We seek an individual who can use American Sign Language (ASL) and written/spoken English as instructional languages, an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, able to guide students in the learning process toward achievement of ASL-English interpreting proficiency, experienced with technology, and able to modify curriculum for online or in-person teaching.
