President’s report   

Leadership – Participated in the NAD Interpreting Summit, on the Interpreter education panel. Shared information from research.  ITPs range from 45 practicum hours – 540 practicum hours. Discussed the importance of programs to seek accreditation through CCIE.  

Created a video announcement with Jonathan from RID about terms to use when referring to not yet certified interpreters. They are just ‘interpreters’, not “certified interpreter”.

Vice President’s report

Bylaws – Awaiting feedback from members during 60 day period.

Conference Policies – borrowed language from Linguistics Society of America.  Requests feedback from board.

Inclusivity Policy – borrowed language from Linguistics Society of America.  Requests feedback from board.

Secretary’s report 

Vote on January meeting minutes  Minor/Kurz passed

Minor to contact Rout 66 for quote – water bottles, shirts, vests. 

Treasurer’s report

Scholarship criteria and needs –Complete. 

RFP for conference interpreters, only one submission yet

Review of accounts and QuickBooks.

New bank WF, BOA, TD? For now we stay with WF.

Professional development

Conference registrations: $13,000 collected from registrations so far. 

Updates from the conference committee – budget for digital program book.

Discussion of assigning a Parliamentarian.

Conference planning update: Eileen is working on call for committees and looking for folks to serve.  We have 44 presenters. Pre conference, is still in planning stage.

  1. FEB 2020 Spotlight on the authors’ from 2018 Conference proceedings is still going strong thanks to Nicole & Doug!

Discussion: CIT will no sponsor or endorse any books via CIT web and Facebook.  Requestors can apply to do a webinar.

Letter for invitation from other countries – President Bentley-Sassaman will work on a response to send to anyone who contacts CIT.
