Volunteer packages

CITSL is a not for profit charity and does not make any form of profit from the fees listed in our volunteers’ programs. All charges paid by volunteers go towards the cost of their insurance for medication (optional), accommodation, travel, meals, language training (in-country) and orientation.

We are currently sending volunteers to the following countries: GAMBIA, KENYA and TANZANIA. However, we are in the process of expanding our services to cover other regions of Asia, South America and Africa.

The program fee includes the following:

  • Pick up and drop off at airport.
  • Three meals a day along with local accommodation for the duration of your stay with the program.
  • An intensive language course (optional)
  • Running expenses which are strictly related to the program.
  • Cost of public transportation from your place of residence to the project location.
  • Emergency evacuation.
  • Local phone number and SIM card.

What is not included?

  • Airfare for round trip.
  • Vaccination and Immunization – Pre Departure
  • Personal expenses at any host country.
  • Entry Visa fees to the host country (if applicable)
  • Excess baggage fees and airport taxes.

Vital Information:

  • Bring any off the counter medications and prescriptions that you have.
  • Bring repellent to keep mosquitoes and other insects at bay.
  • Bring medicines in case of diarrhea and/or constipation.
  • Bring shirts with long sleeves, long pants and a hat to protect against the sun and mosquitoes.
  • Bring comfortable shoes that can withstand seasons.
  • Bring cell phones that are unlocked and low cost.

The Canadian Institute of Tourism and Sustainable Livelihoods (CITSL) responds to the devastating conditions of the worlds poorest and most marginalized people in developing countries in an effort to build and sustain livelihoods, while creating the healthy environment necessary to their survival. We accomplish this task through various sectors- from agriculture to entrepreneurship to healthcare. Currently operating in regions throughout Africa, as well as locally in the province of Alberta, we are looking for assistance in supporting this endeavor for the betterment of society at large.
